Hi Weekend, I Missed You

Do you know what today is? October 19, 2012.  When some networks say 10/19 they don’t mean 10/19. Abed say’s it best,  “…where to put 10/19?”

“It’s a feeling within us all” – Abed”

Today was supposed to be the greatest day ever. Not anymore, NBC decided against showing Community today, further postponing it. No love for one of the best shows since Arrested Development. When it comes back, I’ll be waiting. Until then I’ll re-watch the DVD’s.

I have a tiring long weekend in store. It should be fun and I’m pretty stoked.

Saturday:

I shall take my talents to Berkeley to watch Stanford and Cal for The 115th Big Game. It’s weird to watch a rivalry game so early in the season. With the creation of the Pac-12 Network and scheduling issues, this game got the short end of the stick.  Not only is the game early in the season, it’s also start early – Noon. I always felt that rivalry games should be played at night. The issues with TV contracts led this game to start at Noon.

Sunday:

Oakland will be the place to be for about ten hours. The Jags and the Raiders will do battle. This game is winnable  for the Raiders, along with the next two. If they handle business, they can be at 4-4 at the midway point. That is asking for a lot, so I have my hopes on very low.

Congratulations to the Cardinals for being one win away from the World Series! The Giants lose this series because they left about twenty men on base in Game 3.

The past two nights have been nothing but throwback music at the second job.

Here’s something for your ears…and eyes.

Happy Weekend!

The Day of Humps

About me section? Check. Contact information section? Check. Me always being awesome? Always and forever. My page is to my liking and…I…like…it?  <—- Not going  to lie, that phrase sounded better in my head.

It’s Hump Day! Who came up with that nickname? I don’t know how I feel calling it by that name/nickname. All my life, Wednesday has been THE name. I can’t just go around saying “It’s Hump Day”, the majority of my friends have sick minds so that’s trouble.

Anyway, it’s Hump Day. I’m in the mood for some…

Whenever I drink this, I think of my good friend Sarah. If it wasn’t for her, I would not have known about this greatness.

Random thought: A few moments ago I met somebody who I follow on Twitter. If we were living in Southern California, I doubt the encounter would’ve happen. Northern California = a small community. Since I’m on the subject of Twitter, follow me – GO DEEP IN MY MIND.

My mind? I don’t know what is wrong with it. I have to get ready for my session, my freestyle session. I’ve been challenged by my friend. He is way better than I am. I have my moments though, especially if I freestyle about nursery rhymes. YES, you read that right, nursery rhymes! You want to know how horrible I am?  Take a look at this, Allison Brie from Community.

Yup, I’m worse than her.

Happy Hump Day!

It’s The Freaking Weekend!!

Time to switch things up. Yesterday I went emotional (I’m sorry) and I promise it won’t happen again (or will it?).

Let’s begin shall we? Has a random question ever popped in your head? Literally, the first thing in the morning?  If you said no, you’re lying.

This was the question that popped in my head this morning…

*40 Sec mark is your goal, but watch the whole thing*

Weird, I know. It’s true though, I haven’t heard from Ja Rule in a long time.

!*!* IT’S THE WEEKEND *!*!*

Who is doing what this weekend? I haven’t checked the weather, but I’m pretty sure it won’t be nice here in the 916. A trip to the Bay Area might be in the works. If you have been reading my posts, you are probably assuming Berkeley or San Francisco. HA!, WRONG, fooled you. Santa Cruz might be in order if everything goes according to plan.

Plans, PLANS and PLANS! Everything in life needs a Plan and a “Plan B’. In this case, I really hope my “Plan B” gets action. I don’t mind trips to the Ocean, but I DO mind paying for gas. Gas is becoming a hassle again. I swear it was $2.50 yesterday…Yeah, I wish we were back in the good ol’ days for that reason alone.

OK, sorry, mind was wandering – PLAN B!

Is the suspense killing you? Ok, it’s nothing major (except for fans). Wait for it…. And it is….

Just missing the booze.

Yup, a Community marathon. Season Three came out earlier this week! I still find it sad that people don’t have love for Community. Unfortunately, smart shows rarely get love.

Changing subjects before I rant, yet again.

Breakdown so far:

Clip of the week: Dave Chappelle

Show of the week: Community

Food of the week: Old-School, Oreo’s

Song of the day………

Andre 3000, always doing his thing. Very talented person, he is going to playing Jimi Hendrix in a biopic. I still don’t know all the details in regards of the movie. I didn’t forget about B.o.B, he is still doing his thing – under the radar.

Enjoy the weekend my fellow humans!

Weirdo Wednesday (With a SF feel)

Wednesday is one of those odd days. It is not far removed from the previous weekend but it’s so close to the new weekend. I’m lost TORN, when we hit the so called “Hump Day“. The torn part? I just finished uploading some awesome pictures from my time in San Francisco this past weekend. I went to the Beer Olympics, the Dodgers/Giants game was expensive. Overall, I lucked out, I saved more money by going to the Olympics. I got this awesome view at the end of drinking extravganza:

Evening scenery

The awesomeness that happened inside? Pictures can only tell you so much. You want an example? You sure? Picture number 1:

Blurry? Yes. Mario’s World? Guys were crazy!

This was at the end of the event. I don’t know who could be reading this, all I can say is – Mario is a sick man.

ON TO THE NEXT ONE!

Where was Batman?

These two were awesome! Selina Kyle (that was the name she gave me) was the nicest person I ever met. Bane? He was cool, actually these are my two new friends (let’s be real, it’s not true unless it’s on Facebook)  in SF.

I’ll show one more, then maybe create a little gallery:

Poor thing, she was the only sober one.

I felt sorry for this little one. She was the DD with her group, but she was happy nonetheless. I would be to, I WANTED that can. I offered 5 bucks but she didn’t want it.

Sidenote: I’m watching Boxing (is it me or has it dropped off) and the American just lost, no manhandled, wait DESTROYED by a Russian. I can’t believed they air this fight.

Moving on:

Weekend was great, I was exhausted, SF treated me awesome like always. My counterparts? Not so much.

THE BEST THING ABOUT TODAY?

Community is coming back October 19th! This brought my spirits up, I was kind of down.

Video for your thoughts since SF is on my mind (I respect the classics):

That’s it, I’m done.

Is Music Dying? Or Am I Just Old?

“Honestly I don’t even listen to rap, cause when I turn the radio on, out comes crap. And if you make good music that’s ok, but on the radio that they don’t play”
– B.o.B, Generation Lost

B.o.B is a former underground Hip-Hop artist who is now mainstream. I own a couple of his mixtapes and they sound great. Some studio albums he came out with are pretty legit, B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray and Strange Clouds. Unfortunately, most of his good songs does not get air time.

One song that I really like:

Another artist who is finally getting love, but kind of doesn’t,  is Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino.

This gentleman is the definition of hard worker. He has the title actor/writer/comedian/rapper.

  • He served as a writer for 30 Rock.
  • He plays the hilarious Troy Barnes.
  • And he is the straight-forward, Childish Gambino.

Proof, performance in LA:

Sorry, about the freeze shot. I don’t control YouTube.

Still, if my memory serves me right I have only heard at least two songs on the radio. That, till this day, does not make any sense to me. We have the likes of Justin Beiber, Drake and Celly Cel playing every five minutes.

It seems that good, real, music is considered Rebel Music (Yes, I borrowed that from  Wyclef Jean). Decade of solid music here, not so solid decade there. Music is a cycle, now is not our time for good, solid music. Hopefully, there are some hidden talents that are trying to be discovered that is all about heart and soul, not fame and fortune.  The heart and soul are what Childish Gambino and B.o.B. are about. It’s just a matter of time before the MASS audience will really listen.

Side note, as I finish this, maybe one or two songs have hit the airwaves from B.o.B. as my friend just told me.

Shows how much I listen to radio, I’m strictly a iPod person. I can create my own playlist there.

Maybe music isn’t dying. I’m just getting old  and not with the times.

Bonus from Mr. Glover, singing on Community:
